Finally Blue Murder's
one-stop chickbabe asskicking set arrives. If you’ve never
heard of Blue Murder that’s too bad. Get it now. It is a
British series with a loyal following - for a reason. They mix
drama, dark humor and interesting sub-plots in a remarkably enjoyable
way.
Caroline Quentin plays
Detective Chief Inspector Janine Lewis. But she’s no girly
gal. DIC Lewis has four children she is raising as a single mom
– while tripping in and out of some pretty nasty crime scenes
in Manchester, England. A soccor mom that spends a good deal of
her time as head coach.
She has a partner (-love
partner) DI Mayne, played by Ian Kelsey. But the series doesn't
use the affair to make it how a woman needs a man...no it's a
healthy relationship. The strength of the show coming in the way
a cop show is today-thrown by showing a real-like working mom
- who happens to have one helluva job.
And, it’s one
thing to be a police man. It’s actually another to be a
police woman. I do not mean that as sexist as it just typed. Women
in traditionally man positions can be hard enough. Adding to that
little humans - four of them as DI Lewis cares for - looking for
nurture and you’ve got a great premise. If done right...and
it is here.
You’ll get the
series’ episodes plus a behind the scenes doc and an interview
with the primary stars, Quentin and Kelsey.
The time is right for
Policewoman to step into the world of career and family. Not just
tough gal in boy’s land. The writing and realistic situations
make the show work. It’s a great great watch. Though Manchester
isn't exactly a holiday pin mark on the bucket-list places-to-visit
map...but was it ever? Really? The show's gore and black humor
that is sprinkled through-out means the kiddies should skip this…Even
though this lady shows little lasses no job is gender specific.
And for the
rest of you plan a weekend in PJ's and jump in.
