Bluntly
Speaking | Duchovny on X-Files
Here's
the scoop-la-rue on the ever-forth coming X-File films... Emily:
When will we see the next X- Files Movie? Creator and writer, Chris Carter said
there was still no script as of a spring 2005? David:
There's no script. Chris tells my by early next year. But remember, The guy wrote
a 150 episodes, so he could have a script by the end of the day! The fact that
there's no script is not dissuasive - to use an X-File word! I would imagine since
the three major parts, Chris, Gillian [Dana Scully], and myself [Fox Mulder] I
know it will happen, and I would think it would happen early next year. It's just
a matter of everybody getting their needs met, I guess. Emily:
Is there any one-movie story that could possibly satisfy all the series' unanswered
questions? David:
[laughter] No, that's why it's a franchise. That's exactly why you've got to make
three or four of them before we get o laughably old to do those roles. Emily:
Did you ever expect X-Files to be the phenomenon it's become? David:
No, but after the third year - I expected nothing less. It's just a reality after
that. And what I take away from that show, more than the popularity and the influence,
is the sheer quality of the show. I mean when I hold it up against any other show
in the industry of television? Just the production value, the frame it can hold,
from comedy to thriller to horror, the story telling is remarkable. There's just
no other show like it - and I don't see another show coming along 'cause they
only make shows cheaper and cheaper - and X-Files got more and more expensive.
And, of course, the current taste for, what I call "unscripted shows,"
those reality shows, that I don't think they have anything to do with reality,
other than they are apparently unscripted. They are cheap - they get made. Emily:
Would you like Agent John Doggett in the movie? David:
That's not up to me- if that's part of the story sure. Doggert's an interesting
character in the X-Files universe, but its always the story that mandates the
characters' problem in the X-Files - You know whose issues are being provoked
by the case; whether it's Scully's religiosity, or Mulder's whatever
sister. Emily:
What season Would you recommend to X-Files novices? David:
I always liked the sixth
season. Buy them all - it's a great show. Go
get them all->
